What’s your favorite thing about summer in North Dakota?

I wanted to share all the great responses we received for the Wii contest.  We asked each participant to answer the question, “what’s your favorite thing about summer in North Dakota?”

  • SUNSHINE!!! Green grass and all the colors outside
  • My favorite things about summer in North Dakota are farmers in the field, bonfires, BBQ’s, and good friends getting together to enjoy the weather.
  • I love ND summers because they are so nice!  Very rarely do we get a day that is so unbearably hot that you don’t even want to go out into it.  If the suns’ out, you’ll want to be out with it enjoying the day!
  • I love that you can get anywhere within the cities of Bismarck, Minot, and Fargo within 15 minutes. I also love that wherever you go in ND, the people are always warm and welcoming.
  • My favorite thing about summer is taking my kids camping and hiking and swimming and fishing spending family time alone with no worries of the city, or work it’s always a blast .

  • Best part of North Dakota summers is the fishing! We park the camper out at Deadcolt Creek by Lisbon and fish the days away! Sitting around the bonfire at nights up there in the favs too!
  • What I love most about summer in North Dakota: 1. the vibrant colors of the sky, the grass, the fields, the gardens. 2. Day trips around our state to the Peace Garden, Medora, the State Capitol and Heritage Center, Dakota Zoo, the State Fair. 3. Clean fresh air after a thunder storm. So many many things to love about our summer in North Dakota.
  • This bunch loves to vacation in North Dakota!  We try to make a stop in all corners of the state each summer… Grand Forks for Relay For Life, Medora for the musical, Fargo for the Red River Valley Fair, Crosby for the Threshing Bee, and at least one trip to each of the zoos in Minot and Bismarck! Summer means driving to the fun in North Dakota!

  • My favorite thing about summer in North Dakota is spending time with my wife and kids. We do everything together, from 4 wheeling, camping, fishing, hanging out at the lake. Time with my family is the most precious of times.
  • My favorite thing about summer is going camping in the wonderful North Dakota State Parks and visiting various small towns around North Dakota.
  • My favorite thing about summer in North Dakota is going to my grandparent’s lake cabin. We swim, tube, ski, wakeboard, boat, Jet Ski, and much more! I’ve grown up going there every summer, and the small, rural area and family ties makes visiting there a true North Dakota tradition! The lake is smaller and surrounded by modest trailers and cabins, but everyone has an attitude that “the more the merrier!” It’s not like the busy Minnesota lakes that are surrounded by mansions. It’s true North Dakota summer fun!
  • My favorite thing to do in the summer is to camp with my family and swim with my friends at the local pool.

  • I love seeing the farmers busy in the fields and watching their crops grow into bountiful harvests.  Knowing the hours that they put in each day makes me appreciate the products I buy.   BUY NORTH DAKOTA PEOPLE!  :)
  • Best part of the summer in ND is the state fair in MINOT. 9 days of fun day or night.
  • I love ND in the summer because it is not 115 degrees like south Texas!  We have been here almost a year and love it

  • I love the summer camps offered to the children that are available across the state! My kids love the entrepreneur camp!
  • My favorite part of North Dakota summers is standing out in the middle of a quiet field with the sun shining down, watching my plants grow. Agriculture is a dominating force in this state, and I am so proud to be a part of it!

  • My favorite thing about summer in ND has to be camping with friends and family… The bon-fires, playing outdoor games, bbq’s, tubing, fishing…all of it! Love CAMPING :)

  • With winter being so long, I love how North Dakotans enjoy every minute of summer and throw their all into it! The thing I look forward to the most about summer is softball season. And kids baseball. And county fairs. And every minute of every beautiful summer day!

  • One of the best parts of North Dakota is the community that is built from person to person and town to town. Whether it is at a sandbar or company picnic it is so easy to find a connection between you and someone who was a stranger. We have such an opportunity to get to know the amazing people of our state just by them welcoming a simple conversation. I love North Dakota summers because you can do all that while getting a tan :)
  • My favorite thing about North Dakota summers is being outdoors. You can’t beat it for picnics, bike riding and long summer walks!
  • That’s easy…..hanging out on my friends boat on the river in Bismarck! What more could you ask for on a gorgeous summer day in ND: sun, friends, and a boat!

  • Camping is my favorite thing about summer in North Dakota.  There are so many great parks and lakes to visit.  Not to mention all of the historic sites you can tour.  North Dakota is such a beautiful state!
  • My family’s favorite thing about summer in North Dakota is Upper Missouri Ministries! Five of our six children go each summer, and they love their time there!
  • My favorite thing about summer in ND is camping! Great way to get away from reality and enjoy the family. Soak up the sun and catch some fish. Play games and stay up late enjoying the fresh air!
